The stars were not where they were supposed to be.

In 1989, astronomer Viktor finds a disturbance in distant starlight. The instruments are working. The sky offers no visible explanation.

What begins as a question of measurement becomes a search whose consequences reach beyond one scientist and one lifetime. Yet knowledge alone cannot decide what should be done with it.

Between the immensity of the cosmos and the intimacy of ordinary lives, Light Around the Void follows people asked to make choices for generations they will never meet. Discovery brings responsibility. The unknown remains.

What do we owe a future we may never see?

The questions that stay with us.

Science opens the question. People must live with the answer.

Beyond the visible

A trace in the light. An explanation still out of reach. The search begins with the courage to question what seems certain.

The weight of knowing

A discovery changes the lives of those who make it. What do they owe to everyone who does not yet know?

A future inherited

Some decisions outlive their makers. Their consequences belong to people who never had a voice in choosing them.

More than survival

Beyond the question of whether humanity can endure lies another: what must endure with it? Trust, memory, and the bonds between people.

Begin beneath the stars.

A quiet conversation. A question as old as the light itself. An authentic passage from the opening of the novel.

From the prologue · Sayra and Liora

“Sayra… does every star have a beginning?”

Sayra lifted her eyes to the sky. For a few moments they both watched the stars in silence.

“Everything that shines had a moment,” she said at last, “when its light did not yet exist.”

Liora frowned, turning the thought over in her mind.

“So… at first there was only darkness?”

A faint smile touched Sayra’s face.

“No,” she said softly. “Not only darkness.”

“Then what else?”

Sayra looked at the girl.

“Everything from which light was destined to be born.”

Liora raised her eyes to the stars once more.

“And which one shall we begin with?”

Sayra let her gaze drift across the heavens, as though somewhere among the countless lights she could still find the one she was about to speak of.

“The one,” she said, “that had not yet been given a name.”
